2023 Dinner – Meeting

In a centennial salute, the Longview ’23 Club and friends will gather for this year’s dinner meeting in a special venue, the historic Monticello Hotel. Join us in celebrating two anniversaries — the city’s 100th and the club’s 90th — on Monday, October 2.

We’ll dine in the Crystal Ballroom, now restored to its likeness in 1923. We will enjoy a sumptuous four-course dinner prepared by Grant’s at the Monticello.

You will be treated to live music from the ‘20s, a historic fashion show, and an interview with R.A. Long. Then take home a complimentary book documenting the club’s history.

Social Hour begins at 5:00 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres by Grant’s No host bar (beer and wine only) Slide show of historic photos Tables of ’23 Club memorabilia

Music from the 1920s

The Lower Columbia Clarinet Guild will set the mood for an historic night by playing classics from Longview’s first decade.

Grant’s will have a new menu. The entree will be accompanied by a salad and roll, potato and vegetables. Dessert tops off the meal. Vegetarian plates will be available.

Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

A Choreographed Fashion Show Models will dress in women’s fashions from each of Longview’s ten decades. The style extravaganza will include commentary on attire from each period, popular music of the day and a little dance by each model.

An interview with R.A. Long

R.A. Long and his wife, Etta, will be dining with us. We’ll call him up to the stage for an interview, inviting questions from the audience. He may let us in on a few secrets historians haven’t unearthed.
